About...Latium

Please Note: There will no longer be a playable part on the sim for Latium, as it was destroyed in the war.

The lands of Latium resemble ancient Rome, Greece & Egypt, combined with Eastern influences. The climate is hot and arid, with sandy lands. They have a liberal attitude towards sexuality, and clothing can be revealing. Polygamy is not uncommon among men.

Slavery exists in Latium, with some slaves captured during wars and others born into servitude through generations.

The Latium society is, by definition, a patriarchy where either the father or the husband had the central role both in society and family. Men were citizens of Latium, while women were citizens only through the extension of their male relatives.

The adult male head of a household had special legal powers and privileges that gave him jurisdiction over all the members of his family.

The region trades valuable commodities such as silk, spices, diamonds, and gold. Latium has faced numerous droughts over the years, leading to widespread hunger among the people. However, recent trade with Alban and Norveg has helped alleviate this issue.

Their symbol is a sword with a snake coiled around it, and their motto is "live by the sword, die by the sword" or simply "by the sword." These phrases are often used in greetings among the people.

Religion/Faith. They don’t have one god but believe in many of them, twelve major Olympian gods and goddesses—Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Ares, Aphrodite, Apollo, Artemis, Hephaestus, Hermes, and Dionysus (Refer to ancient Greece mythology for further information if required)

In Latium, a tradition known as the "mos maiorum" festival is observed, held one month after a person's passing to commemorate their life and the journey of their soul to the Heavens. The celebration takes on even greater significance than the funeral itself.

The festival is marked by extravagant feasts, abundant wine, and a wide array of delicacies to indulge in. To further pay tribute to the departed , gladiator games are organized as part of the festivities. The festival normally lasts 2 days, but can go on longer, normally the wealthier a person is, the longer the festival will continue.

Languages Spoken: Latin

They also speak the old language of their ancestors, "Liand " (which would be equivalent to English) not only in respect to their ancestors but also so they could have a way of communication with the people of Alban & Norveg, The Liand was the old language spoke across all of the lands of Liandra before it divided in 3.
